Vector Tango

Vector Tango is a low-poly multiplayer browser game that mashes together air traffic control and aerial combat. It was a prize winner at the 2025 Vibe Code Game Jam, taking home $2,500 in a field stacked with creative, AI-built entries.

Gameplay

The game drops players into vector-styled airspace where the action is part choreography, part dogfight. You manage flight paths, dodge other aircraft, and engage in arcade-style aerial combat with other players in real time. The visual language is deliberately spare — clean polygons, bold outlines, retro-vector flair — which keeps the multiplayer state easy to read even when the airspace is crowded. The result is something that feels like Defender crossed with a casual ATC sim, refracted through a modern multiplayer browser game.

The multiplayer is a key part of the appeal. Sessions stay tight and chaotic in the right way: a single misjudged turn can cascade through traffic, and the looseness of the dogfighting layer keeps every match a little different from the last.

Vibe-coded origin

Vector Tango was built for a jam where AI-generated code is the whole point. Like the other prize winners at the 2025 Vibe Code Game Jam, it was assembled rapidly by prompting AI assistants to scaffold the rendering, the networking, and the game loop, with the developer focusing creative energy on tuning the feel and the multiplayer balance.

Why it matters

Vector Tango is a strong example of multiplayer being within reach of vibe-coded projects. Real-time networking has historically been one of the harder things for solo devs to ship, and seeing a multiplayer game win cash at a jam where most entries are single-player suggests the bar for what a one-person team can build in a weekend is rising fast. Played in any modern browser, it is also one of the easier prize winners to try in seconds.
